Hi,

I've read a few articles on what happens when you upgrade your MQ installation to v6.

I still can't figure out what I'm doing wrong:

I upgraded a Windows/MQ5.3 install to v6.0 including 5 queue managers. Since doing so I cannot connect in the MQ explorer - I was able to immediately after the upgrade but following a reboot, I now cannot.

I've created the model queue required by MQ6.0 and issued a STRMQM -C against the queue managers but this does not seem to have helped.

I'm using the same account I was using pre-upgrade so the problem should not be permissions - unless V6 requires more permissions?

Any ideas - oh and BTW ***Merry Christmas everyone***

Cheers

Is there anything in the logs?

And do you mean the old Explorer MMC or the new Eclipse thing?

Hi,

There are no errors, no. I guess this is because I am not doing anything to precipitate an error - the 'connect' option is not on the right click menu.

So I've been frantically double clicking the queue managers and they do not expand.

Yes, and I'm using the new Eclipse Explorer.

Thanks

Are you using the version of Eclipse that comes with v6?

If the connect option is missing it probably means the appropriate bindings library could not be found. This can be confirmed by pressing right mouse button on the "IBM WebSphere MQ" node at the top of the left hand pane, and then selecting "Properties..." in the window that opens select "Configuration information" on the left hand side.

In the pannel on the right there should be a line titled mqjnd05 loaded. If this shows no, then that will be why you cannot connect.

There are 2 common causes of this problem:

If you have applied a CSD then open a command prompt and launch the explorer by issuing strmqcfg -c. This will clean out eclipse's plugin cache and ensure the new plug-ins are correctly loaded.

Alternatively check that the library is installed and is in your path. By default it is found in:

C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\Java\lib

This should be in your path.

Yes I am - the one that came with the product.

Incidentally, I can access runmqsc sessions no problem and create and delete objects etc.

Are there any steps that I should have taken apart from creating the model queue? I copied the def from an MQ6.0 queue manager that I created - which also does not connect any more

Rowles - you were spot on - the bindings library is not being loaded - I'm checking out why at the moment..

Big thanks..

OK it was not in my path for some reason - problem solved.

I wondering why this didn't get added at upgrade time...

Cheer Steve and Merry Christmas
