I need to resize my log files on an AIX box and move them to a new file system. Can anyone point me to some documentation on this? I need to know if I need to delete and rebuild the queue manager. _________________ Len Burkhardt

If rebuilding is an option, go for it. It's by far the safest way and as far as I know the only documented way if you want to re-locate and/or re-size your logs.

Well there are couple of things you can do.
First Option (This is if you want to save data in the queues)
1) Create new Queue Manager with the same name and the new logsize on another box
2) tar up the logs and compress/gz/zip (which ever you have) ftp them to
the new file system and uncompress and untar them.
3) modify the /var/mqm/qmgrs/QMGR_NAME/qm.ini with the new log parms
4) Start Queue manager.
Second Option (This is if you want to save data in the queues)
1) Backup dir /var/mqm/qmgrs/QMGR_NAME/queues
2) Backup Queue Manager Configuration (queues/channels defs)
3) dltmqm QMGR_NAME
4) create QMGR_NAME with your new log settings
5) start Queue Manager
5) restore Queue Manager Configuration from step 2
6) stop queue manager
7) restore backup from step1
OPtion 3:
Delete and recreate Queue Manager (if you dont want to save data)
1) dltmqm QMGR_NAME
2) crtmqm QMGR_NAME with new log parms
restart queue manager. _________________ Jeff
