We were getting strange characters in the message when communicating to the mainframe from our Sun Solaris 5.8. We changed the CCSID attribute of the MQ header to 37 to overcome this problem, but now I see some "]" characters along with "|" which we were expecting. In other words the entire message does not come correctly. Is there any other CCSID which someone can suggest? All the messages are Text. Thanks in advance for the help

I dont think you need to code your mqmd with cp 37, I think you want to
alter the mainframe qmgrs ccsid from the panels.
