We had few problems when learning how to create a domain,
so now have few "wrong" domains
in the bottom left pane of the "Broker Administration" view.

What must we do to DELETE a Domain Connection ?
The "right-click" comes up a menu with the options
"New", "Edit" and "Connect" choices only ...

Thanks.

Also a pointer to MB Toolkit Documentation site would be nice ....

Hi,

That will delete the connected configMgr's from the toolkit also...and recreating them will not mean that brokers under that configMgr have got released.

If you haven't added brokers, then go ahead...else use configMgr proxy first to release brokers.

Regards.

What does
Quote:

mean, mr Elvis ?

Using
ConfigManagerProxy\StartConfigManagerProxyExerciser.bat ???

That is a tool I have seen ... but never used !
It looks it is suposed to ... delete a Broker that is in a Domain ....

But this is the "simple" and "easy" way to do it ?
I mean - I cant delete a Broker from a Cfg Mgr Domain
without using this tool ???

Thanks.

mr Akanksha : I admit there are different meanings for
"Deleting" a Domain,
but what I am saying is that we have a graphical tool,
the MB Toolkit,
and I don't understand the need to use the
"Configuration Manager Proxy Exerciser"
to do such a (quite) simple task.

In the same place where you "Create a New Domain"
you should be able to "Delete a Domain"
doesn't it sound logical ?

hey I m Miss... i thot my name sound faminine

frst - hv u just created domains or hv added brokers in repository too

in case d brokers are not added dn u just need to do right click on configmgr file and select delete

see deleting a domain has different meanings to it... in case u just want to delete the domain and keep the config manager and broker as it is (4 whtever rsn) u just need to do right click on configmgr file and select delete

since ur config mgr has broker info stored in its repository and if u want to separate dn dn u need 2 use conf mgr proxy as elvis said

in case u wanna delete all dn theres a diff procedure

Brokers from Repository - proxy tool.

Thanks a lot ! S.

If you delete Brokers from the Configuration Manager - then you will also have to follow this up with mqsidelete on the Broker. You will never be able to do anything with that Broker otherwise.

So, generally, you don't want to do this.

If you no longer want to SEE a particular configuration manager in a particular workspace, you can delete the Domain Connection, which is stored as the .configmgr file. So you can delete the .configmgr file.

This does nothing to the ConfigMgr or the Broker(s) defined to that ConfigMgr.

Thanks, Jeff - I did notice the upper case "SEE"
even it was not obvious ( to me ) at first glance.

From the way you speak, I understand that the important point
is the moment at which a Broker
gets associated to a specific Configuration Manager,
this is to a specific Domain, isn't it ?

In other words : can a specific Broker be manager by two or more
Configuration Managers, this is, can it pertain to two or more domains ?

As my intuition (?) says "no" (??)
then I have a LAST question (for tonite)

>>> at which moment or operation
a given Broker gets linked (associated)
to a specific Cfg Mgr ??? <<<

I did create a cfg mgr by "mqsicreateconfigmgr"
I did create a Broker by "mqsicreatebroker"

But I have seen that when I "connect" to a Cfg Mgr,
the "associated" brokers come up in the Toolkit Broker Admin ....

Thanks ...

You can only associate a broker to one configmgr.

It is only possible to associate it with the configmgr after the broker is newly created. This is done by "creating" the Broker in the Domain.

Basically, one does "mqsicreatebroker" to create the broker, "mqsistart" to start it, and then in the Domain, create a "new" Broker. This registers the broker with the configmgr.

You can't unregister the broker with the configmgr. You have to first delete the broker from the Domain, and then mqsidelete it.

Yes, Jeff - what you say is what I always had in mind
but there is a subtle point I am missing :

"mqsicreatebroker" has no "config manager name" parameter.

So, is a have a large AIX,
I shall be able to have two (or more) configuration managers.

(ok ?) Then I can do

a) mqsicreateconfigmgr CM1
b) mqsicreateconfigmgr CM2

Later, I create a Broker :
mqsicreatebroker BK1

Under which CM is it located ?

Guess we are reaching the "heart" of my missunderstanding .... ()

It's not "located" under either configmgr.

Until you go into the Toolkit, create a Domain Connection (to a configmgr), and then under that Domain, "create" a new Broker in the Toolkit.

And, again - someone may be telling you that you need more than one configmgr per broker - but only because they don't know what's going on.

The thing to keep in mind is, everything you see in the Domain in the Toolkit is "what the configmgr knows".

So, I have to understand that the
"association" is done at "Toolkit Domain creation" time
and the "dis-association" is done using the "proxy tool"
...
am I right ?

(simple minds need simple answers ... at the beginning !)

Thanks a lot, Jeff.

I shall ask few questions about the Cfg Mgr repository .... next week ....
