Can someone tell me if Block IP v2.55 is compataible and works fine on WMQ v6.0.2.0 or WMQv6.0.1.1. We are running both AIX and HP-UX, and have seen alerts regarding the following from the Block IP site below. Does the e-fix need to be applied in order to get Block IP v2.55 or any other version to work on WMQ 6.0.1.1 or WMQ 6.0.2.0??:
Warning: There are currently problems with BlockIP2 and WebSphere MQ version 6.0.1.1 on Windows and UNIX. The problem is caused by CSD01 for WebSphere MQ version 6.0
You can see the problem description here at IBM.COM So if you need CSD01 and BlockIP2 you might need to contact IBM to get the e-fix.

So are you saying it does not work currently for 6.0.1.1 or 6.0.2.0?? You really did not answer my question. |

I'm just reading the APAR record ... afaik, if blockIP doesn't get the connection name, it can't do its job .... it sounds like its okay if you use runmqlsr however ... _________________ -wayne |

Can anyone confirm this? Is there anyone out there successfully capable of using this support pac w/ either one of these v6 levels? Wayne, thanks for the update. |

I am familiar with the fix, I am just curious to know if Block IP requires these fixes for 6.0.1.1 and 6.0.2.0 to work correctly. |

The APAR says that the fix won't be included in anything until 6.0.2.1.
It should tell you what version number the bug starts with. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

We are using BlockIP2 on AIX (OS Level 5.3ML3) with WMQ 6.0.1.1 but we had to recompile it on system in both 32bit and 64bit and copy the execs to the appropriate directory. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |

I have yet to implement it, I just wanted to know if there were problems so I do not waste my time trying to get it to work. |

Wasn't even aware there was an issue until I saw your post. We put this in a month or so ago, had problems getting it to work, tried a recompile and hey presto!
The glory's not mine though, somebody else had the idea 'just to see if it worked'...it did, for us.
btw, we use explicit IP Addressing in CONNAME, not DNS names so don't know if that would have an effect and we use it mostly for CLIENT connections. _________________ It's puzzling, I don't think I've ever seen anything quite like this before...and it's hard to soar like an eagle when you're surrounded by turkeys. |
