Hi everyone,
Whose responsibility does the creation of the MQ binding file using JMS tool fall into. Is it MQ Administrator's job (or) the application developer's job to create this MQ binding file using the JMS tool.
In our company there has been an argument recently that the bindings file will be created by the application developers (and it seems that it's been working that way for some time) but now the application developers say that it is the MQ administrator's job to do it.
Can you please answer this question above with the valid reasoning behind it. I really really appreciate your reply to this question.
Thank you very much in advance.
Have a nice weekend (all of you) |

I guess it depends.
In some companies it depends on who complains the loudest.
In other companies it depends on who can get it done right. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Jeff,
In my experiences ( I am also in admin side) these setting are created in WAS in general. That means this is done by Websphere Application Server Administrator and MQ admin's responsible is to give the mq related details to that guy such as:
queue manager name
queue name
channel name
port
Also, where the applicaiton uses xa or not will be based on appl suggestion which also requires some changes in mq config file.
I would really appreciate clarification on this. |

Well, in some companies the MQ Administrator is the WAS administrator.
It really depends on how a particular company or department wants to do it.
Although, in the U.S., the Sarbanes-Oxley Act has some things to say about who can do what in Production versus Test. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

It sounds to me like someone's just trying to get out of work (or develop a needless bureaucracy). I would hate to be in a serious developer job and have someone tell me the bindings had to be created by an administrator. The last thing IBM will do is tell someone how to organize their business process, although there are times I wish they were brave enough to do so. But IMHO, I would tell the developers to be careful for what they wish. They may just get it (and regret it)! _________________ IBM Certified MQSeries Specialist
