It's a strange one, Charlie Brown. I have two Windows 2000 NT servers (MQ1 and MQ2 QMGRS) clustered with a cluster queue on OS/390. MQ Client and Server 5.1/CSD06 on the NT machines and all updates have been applied (including cluster APAR) to 390. Replies are sent from the client to the MQ1 QMGR and arrive for processing around 70% of the time. The others return the QMGR not available 2059 error. The NT Servers housing MQ1 and MQ2 are both available, so an unplanned failover shouldn't cause this situation, right? The clients are specifying QMGR '*' so misspelling won't enter into the equation either. I'm stumped... any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,

What MQI call are you getting the 2059s on? When you do the MQCONN, MQOPEN, or MQPUT? Also, you probably need to explain the architecture a little more fully because from your initial description, it sounds like you have an application that is using MQSeries client to connect to an MQSeries server that is on the same Windows box as the client. If this is the case, why are you doing this? Since the queue manager is living on the same box as the requesting application, why don't you just have it connect directly to the queue manager rather than going through MQSeries client?

Brandon,

Sorry for that confusion there. The 2059s are occurring on the MQPUT calls, but not every time, and in what seems to be no pattern whatsoever. The client actually doesn't reside on the NT server. It's on a Windows machine elsewhere.

Thanks,
