Where do the persisntece msg go when the tareget queue is full and no DLQ is defined in target qmgr?
Does the sending system get any message of failure of sending? or confirmation failure message?
Thanks |

Where do the persisntece msg go when the tareget queue is full and no DLQ is defined in target qmgr?
Messages remain in the transmission queue at the sending side of the message channel; AND the channel stops. The MCA (message channel agent) sends batches of messages in logical units of work; and they remain uncomitted in the transmission queue until successfully comitted into the destination queue (or dead-letter queue) at the receiving end.
Does the sending system get any message of failure of sending? or confirmation failure message?
The channel fails. RO_ (report options) messages are sent to the reply-to-queue if the sending application asked for them (in MD); but only for failure to deliver to the destination queue AND successful delivery to the dead-letter queue.
In this instance, the channel failure is your notification. |

Thank you for prompt reply. Sorry for not giving whole scenerio. The sending side is MF and no app is involved in this provess. When MF get message on their queue the channel is activated and sends msg to AIX.
They are receiving confirmation failure message.
thanks again |

So, sending application is on some other platform and the mainframe is a hub. Yes?
If you have channel events enabled at the m/f qmgr (you most likely do), and the channel fails; then an event message will be created (by the qmgr) and put to the SYSTEM.CHANNEL.EVENT queue.
If you have some kind of monitoring tool (Omegamon, Patrol, ...), it can watch for this kind of event, and page you, phone home, whatever. |
