I know v6 has file transfer capability. Have any one of you have used practically? Can this replace use of FTP from MF to distribute side? I mean using MQ file transfer features.
My client is using ftp to transfer file from mf to aix. Now they like to replace ftp by mq.
Is it practically feasible?
I would appreciate any suggestions/your experiences use of mq as file transfer.
The File Transfer capability of MQ v6 is, in my opinion, not a production caliber tool. In my opinion.
It's also a security risk.
Any time you are looking at doing file transfer over MQ it is probably a good idea to look at replacing the use of files with the use of messages. This means, for example, changing the programs that WRITE files to SEND messages, and changing the programs that READ files to RECIEVE messages.
There's been a lot of discussion here about File Transfer over MQ and "replacing FTP with MQ".
Go read it! _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general.
