Unless you already know how to install and configure software on the mainframe, the MQ documentation won't be much help.
But everything you want to know about MQ is in the Information Center, which is linked off of www.ibm.com, and the big button at the top of this page labeled "Documentation". _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Of course, mainframe doesn't ALWAYS mean z/OS ..... what platform? _________________ -wayne |

Of course, it doesn't matter what kind of mainframe - if babu_murugesan doesn't already know how to install and configure software on it, the documenation isn't going to be much help. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Now Jeff, you're assuming here that (s)he doesn't know how to install/configure software in general...... _________________ -wayne |

No...
I'm assuming that anything that goes by the name of "mainframe" has a more complicated installation process than "double-click on the installer". _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Read the z/OS manuals, plan your installation (disc placement & so forth), then run it past the system programmers for the machine in question. The z/OS offering IMHO is the most complex of the MQ offerings, both intrinsically and by interaction with other software. You'll also need to make sure it conforms to all the site defaults and standards already in place or you'll end up with all sorts of pain.
On that topic, my tip is plan the security carefully. I find getting that changed on z/OS to be the most laborious process. This has nothing to do with the technology and everything to do with the administrative maze which typically protects such changes.
