Has anyone wrote a procedure/function/anything that would transform the value of an element which comes in entirely as UPPERCASE to mixed case?
As in, JOE becomes Joe and MCDONALD becomes McDonald?
This issue just came up as we placed the values on letterhead in the receiving application.
Thanks for your help. |

I expect there's a Java library somewhere which does this. If you only wanted leading caps that would be easy to code up in ESQL, but if you want the 'McDonald' thing you're probably better off using a library. |

Yeah, the ESQL could do just the first character pretty easily, although I hesitate because of this whole issue: http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=32835
I was thinking java, but I there is certainly not a method for this built into java.Lang.String, so I'm not sure where else to look. Any ideas?
I've also been trying to get them to do it somewhere else, or not store the fields as all uppercase to begin with. |
