We currently have workflow client 3.4 in our test (with WAS 4) and we want to move this client to a WAS 6, where Workflow Client 3.6 is already installed on it. Is a Workflow Client 3.6 configuration on this new box compatible with Workflow server 3.4? Or do we have to upgrade the server too before doing this?

I would say NO... what I hear you saying is you are going with a 3.6 client on a 3.4 server?

The client was changed pretty radically, and will probably attempt to use API Calls that were not in 3.4
