Windows XP
WMB 6.0.0.1

I have installed the WMB v6 and verified the components. When I try to run the Default Configuration wizard it fails and gives me the following error:

Quote:
ask: Creating the database [DEFBKDB6] for the default broker. failed
If you can manually fix the issues that caused this task to fail, do so and then click Yes.
If you click Yes, the wizard starts the task again.

If you click No, the wizard rolls back all completed tasks, if roll-back is possible.

To establish why the task failed, examine this wizard's log file which can be found in the workspace
directory [C:\Brg_Lgcy\.metadata].

I had a default configuration. However, I had to reinstall (see topic: Broker v6 Installation - No "Message Set Project") I uninstalled RSA, WMB, WMQ, DB2, etc... I cleaned the registry and cleared the ODBC System DNS reference to DEFBKDB6.

The following is the last part of the DefaultConfigurationWizard.log:
Quote:
Creating the database [DEFBKDB6] for the default broker.
Status ERROR: com.ibm.etools.mft.eou code=0 Could not create the database.

Collected output from task >
Stdout: [MQSI 6.0.0.0

C:\Program Files\IBM\MessageBrokersToolkit\6.0>CALL mqsicreatedb DEFBKDB6 -i sessionsa -a *********
BIP9828I: Connecting to the Cloudscape Network Server on port 1527.
BIP9812E: The IBM Cloudscape Network Server failed to start
The CNS running on port number '1527' could not be started.
Please check that no other program is using the port number '1527'. Also check that the user id associated with the DatabaseInstanceMgr service has the correct permissions.
I checked netstat -an and there was nothing for port 1527.

I believe there is residual data from uninstalling incorrectly. What residue might be on the system that I missed? What other cleanup should I do?

Any help is appreciated.

Create a DB2 database DEFBKDB6 manually from the control center.
and continue the default Configuration by clicking YES.

For creating default configuration make sure that your user names to create broker and config manager is local user name and not a user is any specific domain.

Hi, I get the exact same error. I haven't had any previous MB installation, only a MQ client version 5.
I have tried your suggestions:
- I checked netstat -an and there was nothing for port 1527.
- Create a DB2 database DEFBKDB6 manually from the control center...
- ..user names to create broker and config manager is local user name...

This is also written in the error, where do I check this: "Also check that the user id associated with the DatabaseInstanceMgr service has the correct permissions."

Any other suggestions is also appreciated.

Where have you left off?

Did it create the default QMGR?
Did it create the database in DB2?

What do you see when you issue mqsilist from the WMB Command Console?

Are you using a local ID in groups mqm and mqbrkrs?

In this case the problem is with DB2 only....better to create manually everything...
