Windows 2000 SP4
MQ 5.3 CSD11 Hot fixes IC47335 IY74339
We tried to stop the MQ Service thru Services, and it was stuck on Stopping. Finally decided to reboot the server.
After the reboot, the QM didn't start, weird. Manually start it up via MQServices, and then go look in Windows Services, perhaps the IBM MQSeries Service got set to manual by mistake.
Nope, its gone. There is no longer an entry for IBM MQSeries!
How did that happen?
How do I get it back? _________________ Peter Potkay

Copy registry entries from
HKLM\System\ControlSet001\Services\MQSeriesServices
to
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MQSeriesServices _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I sent it to my Sys Admin for that box. I'll try it if he is willing to, and post the results.
Why did it happen I wonder????? _________________ Peter Potkay

Possibly because the registry was in flux at the time of reboot, and a change didn't get committed or something.
Thinking about it more, re-running the Prepare MQ Series wizard might help too.
And I remember JasonE posting a command that would rebuild or restore the default registry or something. And you can use amqmdain to add individual qmgr stanzas back in. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

The amqsvc.exe. launches amqmsrvn.exe via (d)com. It normally runs under SYSTEM account.
MQ needs a dcom object, because it does not run as a traditional Windows service. Amqsvc.exe is the operating system service that acts as a stub, which creates the dcom object, and MQ is launched from that dcom object. It is done this way to enable it to run under a user specified account, which is required for some of the MQ operations.
To stop the amqsvc.exe process (other than by using the 'net stop IBM MQSeries' command), execute the command "amqsvc -stop".
The MQSeries® (Windows) service (amqsvc) has a few command line options to help should problems arise:
amqsvc.exe
-INSTALL : Reinstalls the registry keys to make the MQ Service defined
-UNINSTALL : Removes the MQSeries service
-SILENT : Hides error messages when install/uninstall performed
-START : Starts the service (Use Net Start "MQSeries Service" instead?)
-STOP : Stops the service (Use Net Stop "MQSeries Service" instead?) |
