I randomly get "Application Error" when trying to send a message. I am using .net framework 2.0. Does anyone know what could be causing the problem? |

AFIAK .NET 2.0 is not yet supported with MQ, though there is a rumour going round that this has recently changed (search the forum for .NET to find the various discussions!). This could be causing some kind of random wobble.
What you need to do (if only to get proper help here!) is to find if an MQ reason code is being thrown. If it is, you've got an MQ problem and we can help you track it down. If not, it's infrastructure & you can try going back to .NET 1.1
The code is a 4 digit number in the range 2000 - 3000. Look for it, if you find it check it in the docs, if you're still stuck post it here along with an idea of what the app was doing at the time (i.e had it been running for a while, it blows on a particular kind of message, etc, etc)

Victor, unfortunately no MQ reason code is being thrown. All we get is “Error in the application” and is coming from amqmdnet. How can we verify whether or not that .NET 2.0 supporting IBM MQ Series?

You can watch this thread:

or ring your IBM rep. If you get a definative answer, get his name and post the news!!
You could also try reverting to .NET 1.1 libraries & see if that helps. Like I said, a search could be helpful - there has been discussion on this.
I'm not a solid .NET person so don't know the impact of such a reversion. I would also say that the lack of a reason code does imply an environmental rather than an MQ specific problem.
Of course, it might be worth double checking that the code you've got catching MQ errors is 100% on the ball. If I had £5 for every time I'd been assured that the error checking was foolproof I could retire.
(Then of course there are the programmers who don't check MQ reason codes because MQ problems are my resonsibility not theirs. The comment "well it should just work" does tend to result in sarcasm). _________________ Honesty is the best policy.
