Hi all,
I haven't worked on setting up a queue to be monitored before. It would be greatly appreciated if any one answers my question.
We have a few queues in our production which should be monitored. If the queue depth is greater than zero, we would like to get candle alerts. What are the checks that should be made for setting up this? Are there any specific properties that should be set for the queue?
Thank you. |

I do not know candle, but you need to write a script ( unix and/or perl ) to check the queue depth and then take action - call candle process or email someone or whatever. |

Or you could just trigger a process on FIRST |

No.
Candle should handle all of the stuff necessary to determine the queue depth. It should also be able to handle the stuff necessary to REACT to the queue depth, and handle the process of notifying people.
Although, given that IBM bought Candle several yeras ago and there are no more supported products under the Candle name, I would hope that mqwbiwf is using Omegamon XE for WebSphere Messaging, and not a Candle product. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Hi,
Yes, Candle MQ monitoring has everything built in.
- First, make sure your agents are running on the server
- Start the Candle CMW or whatever it is called for your version.
- Create a situation to monitor those particular queues.
- Make sure you have a 'Take Action' (Running Man) to send you an alert.
- Finally, deploy the situation.
You don't need to write any code. Also, as Jeff says, you should be using the currently supported IBM version.
Regards,
