Is it possible to use WBI to extract data from the database, if so please provide me with some info regarding the same.

Do you want to extract data using a collaboration / Adapters?

What do you mean by collabraions??
I would like to know if MB provides some nodes to directly access the database or if not which are the adapters available which performs the required functionality...

U can go for JDBC adapter to get data.......and get the data from database... in other case u want to connect to repository to manipulate somethings in collabs then go for API provided by IBM...
