We have a clustered environment with a mixture of 5.3 (Win) and 5.1 (HP-UX) queue managers.
Our infrastructure folks have been having a hard time gettting the 5.3 to 6.0 windows install to work and have been blaming the clustering as the likely cause. (When they fail, I have had to go back and manually repair clustering issues.)
Has anyone had any issues with upgrading MQ in a clustered environment?

I assume you mean MQ clustering vs clustering as in MSCS?
What exactly is the problem? _________________ -wayne |

I'll check and see what their specific problems are.

Has anyone actually done an upgrade of a clustered environment from 5.3 to 6.0?
The direction our infrastructure people got from IBM is that the cluster had to be removed, then the upgrade performed, and then the cluster reestablished.
This seems silly to me.
Opinions? Experiences?

You should not need to delete the entire cluster.
It is not a bad idea to remove each queue manager from the cluster before you upgrade - but it should not be required.
It is not a bad idea to upgrade your full repositories first (removing them from the cluster, per the above) - but it should not be required.
But if IBM support is giving you specific recommendations based on your particular scenario, then you should follow those over what some guy on the internet says. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
