Hi guys

can some one help to clarify my understanding of User Name server.

User Name Server:

Is an optional component of MB v5 product
Required only for pub/sub messaging system
Can be created in may supported platforms
Requires queue manager /can share with broker’s queue manager
The queue manager requires in the same machine it resides
Does not require database to setup
When installed, requires making changes in broker and configuration manager
Requires service trace for problem solving (not user trace)

Question:
If broker is sharing queue manager with configuration manager, then can UNS share the same queue manager (created for configmgr- means all three sharing the same queue manager)

It is used in pub/sup, but is there any particular reasons to use user name server?

This should be well covered in any training class on Broker.

It's also well covered in the v5 Information Center.
