Does anyone know of a way to determine the last time a queue was used? I suppose one way is to look at the modification date/time of the physical q file itself. What I'd really like to see is some statistics.

Thanks in advance,
Bridgette

Define "used"?

Opened? Had message movement?

If you want statistics, then you can use RESET QUEUE STATISTICS, or Accounting&Statistics.

But you have to do stuff to enable/capture that data. You can't ask the queue manager "how many messages were put and got from this queue six months ago?"

used = messge movement

What good would resetting the statistics do me? I want to know how to do the capture part.

Thanks,

Well, the funny thing is, the only way that you can capture the statistics is by resetting them.

At least, those statistics that are gathered and reset by RESET QUEUE STATISTICS. Which is an entirely different thing than the accounting and statistics.

I came across this monitoring tool, which in addition to giving me queue stats claims to give data on WBI Broker.

And the express version is free.

Yes. That monitoring tool, just like every other monitoring tool, uses RESET QUEUE STATISTICS, and maybe statistics and accounting.

And it is free. Except when it breaks.
