We are running MQSeries on Solaris platform and encountering a v. slow response from MQ..there are no errors shown up but the MQ usage is taking maximum CPU time.

is it possible that the Sun Solaris semaphore pool drying up causing MQ not able to respond? the delays I am talking about here are seconds, e.g. 7 seconds. CPU should not be the only and most important cause, it seems. Any chance it may be due to the TCP live connection that cannot go above 100? Meaning applications not releasing the TCP connections

Also any other pointers in this direction would help a lot.

If this were the case you would see FDC files in /var/mqm/errors. When you do a "top" which [mq] process is hogging the CPU?
