I am working with Weblogic Server(WLS) 8.1.6, MQ XA Client installed on WLS server and MQ Server 6.0. WLS JMS client is consumer of MQ server. When ever WLS Foreign JMS server is deployed or WLS is restarted, there are 13 connections to MQ Queue irrespective of number of messages in the queue.

Who is responsbile for opening a connection with MQ Queue? WLS Server itself or the MQ XA Client ?

The J2EE container is suposed to maintain a set of connections in a connection pool.

So in this case, it's WebLogic that's actually opening the connections, and keeping them around.
