Hi folks,
Is it necessary to run the listener to receive messages? I am having 3 queue managers at my local box , QMA, QMB, QMC. My application is connected to QMA. I checked for any listeners for QMA by issuing:
ps -ef | grep runmqlsr, i got the following:
runmqlsr -m QMC
so there is no listener for QMA and QMB. But my application connected to QMA is able to receive messages from the end systems.
Thanks in advance |

So if you have a local program talking to a local queue manager, you don't need channels or a listener for that program to put and get messages.
But if you need remote programs or remote queue managers to talk to that local queue manager, you do need a listener. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

By saying that areu you referring to binding mode? is that right? Or is there any other method an application can talk to a local queue manager? |

Yes Bindings Mode, which allows you to interact with a QM without going thru the listener. Versus Client Mode, which does require a listener, even if the Client Mode app is running on the same server.
All MQ apps fall into one of these 2 categories, no exceptions. _________________ Peter Potkay
