Hi,
I am trying to move a config mgr to another server. I have recreated the queue manager and the database with the same names. I took a backup of the database and moved it to the new server.
In one of the tables in the database is the username written as "wdkcphhan/wbi" where wbi is a local user and wdkcphhan is the server name.
When I start the config mgr on the new server wdkcphdfe and try to connect to it from the toolkit I get the reply back "wbi@wdkcphdfe not authorised".
Is there a procedure for moving config mgrs from one server to another or is the config mgr designed to be nonmovable?
Of course I can create a new config mgr on the new server, delete the brokers and recreate them and let them join the new config mgr but I wonder if that is the best solution in case of a server failure where I have to recover my config mgr on another server.
Thanks

Moving a CM to another machine is quite tricky on versions earlier than v6.
The table that contains the user id will be the CACLGROUPS table; by moving the CM to another machine you'll need to redefine your security controls... e.g. define the toolkit userids on the new machine etc.
As mentioned in another thread recently, you'll also need to reconfigure the MQ channels between the brokers and the CM.

Is there an instruction document somewhere that explains how to move a v5 Configmanager from one server to another and to get the old brokers to point at the new Configmanager? |
