I'm looking for anyone who has a system working with the following to give me an indication as to which patch levels thay are using.
O/S Solaris 9
WMQ Ver V5.3 CSD06 ( Will be upgraded to 6.0 within 6 months )
Broker Ver V5.1 Min CSD Level is CSD07
Database Oracle 9i
The message flows work fine with transactionality turned off.
However, there are some problems with WMQ managing the Coordination when it is configured to use XA. All was working before the Broker was patched to CSD07.
Before anyone asks, there is a PMR open on this but I'm wondering if the problem could be resolved by upgrading WMQ to a higher CSD Level.
So, if any MQSeries reader has a system working with similar O/S DB etc then I would be greatful to know the relevant patch levels you are using _________________ WMQ User since 1999

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who has an installation of the nonexistent Broker v5.1, too. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

XA is a bit complicated. It's possible that when you updated Broker to a newer fixpack, you updated the switch file that's being used by MQ.
I do hope you restarted the queue manager after FPing Broker.
Also, I'd be surprised if Support didn't want you to FP MQ to CSD12, too.
When you upgrade MQ to v6, you are going to be entering an entirely new world with XA. MQ v6 is 64bit on Solaris, I believe - it's 64bit everywhere it can possibly be 64bit (which is everywhere but Windows). So you will have to configure a 64 bit database connection for XA. So be prepared to spend some time with that XA on that changeover.
Also, you should at least be thinking about when you'll migrate Broker to v6. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Jeff,
Thanks for the tip about V6. There is a sandbox for this going to be build shortly.
On the original topic.
I am likely to be building a test rig to expore the problem in the very near future. The system that got updated with CSD07 houses other brokers so I can't 'mess' around with applying different WMQ & WBI CSD's.
This is why I was hoping for a reply from someone who has a system like this currently working.

We understand that your options might be limited there. But still you should try and upgrade MQ to the latest CSD. This should not affect the other brokers but like always run a test environment before doing so in prod.
