I think I can just install the tookit on a WIN XP pro (SP2) system to access the broker on another machine through the config mgr.

I start the launchpad and go to advanced installation. This XP machine already has MQ installed. so the launchpad shows
WebSphere Eclipse platform V3.0.1 - installed
WebSphere MQ V6 - installed
ODBC driver for cloudscape - incorrect level
Websphere message broker V6.0 - required
Websphere message broker toolkit V6.0.0.1 - required
Rational Agent controller V6 - Not installed
DB2 UDB Enterprise server edition V8.2 (optional) - incorrect level
Oracle - Not installed
Sybase - Not installed
Microsoft SQL server - Not installed

I expanded "Websphere message broker toolkit V6.0.0.1" and click "Install Websphere message broker toolkit V6.0.0.1"
The install wizard started and terminates with
"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information"

There is no directory created for the MB toolkit yet. So there is no installation log for the MB.

Any idea what did I do wrong ?

I had the code on an external USB drive. It works fine after I copied the code to the local hardrive first. There must be a problem with the external hard drive. But I can use the hardrive for all other normal operations. Anyway, problem resolved.

It might be directory layout or something on removable drive.

I install from USB harddrives all the time.
