What is the best practice of MQ back up? Is it enough to save the configuration of the objects (qmgr, queue, chl etc) when changes are made? My logic of not thinking copying messages is that, if the messages are important, the design should be as persist. If not, there is no any point of copying message. However, I am interested how other people do it.
Is the saveqmgr is the best utility (free) or are there any other utilities?
My understanding is that the permission is backed up using amqoamd. Is this right?
One more question, why people use media image? Does it in fact back up everything? Backing up the media image requires linear log and I have seen that most of the companies use circular log ? Is media image mostly used in case of mq for z/os or any mainframe scenario? |

Best practices is to understand the requirements for recovery, and then architect backup procedures to meet requirements, using good understanding of Recovery/Restart section of System Administration Manual. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
