Hi All,
I need to test check whether I can connect to a queue manager using a user name that is bigger than 12 characters.
For eg, the user name can be "Iambiggerthantwelvechars".
Now for this user name to connect :-
1) Do I have to create a user with that username on the system. I am using a Solaris 5.8 machine and it doesnt allows to create username that are bigger than 8 chars
2) Without creating the user, just use setmqaut -p "username". But IMHO the username should already be present on the system, otherwise the command throws an error.
So somehow the queue manager needs to be configured to allow the user "Iambiggerthantwelvechars" to connect to it.
Can anyone help me on this?? |

you are out of luck on Solaris, if it only supports 8 chars then that is it.
Have you tried just putting a 12 char username in the /etc/passwd file ???
I know they may not support it but it may work. you may only be able
to use the first 8 to login but MQSeries might handle all 12. _________________ Jeff

The maximum size of an MQSeries supported user name is 12 characters on all platforms except windows. I believe windows allows much longer names. |

Yes I know that, what I wanted to make sure that we can connect to a queue manager using a long user ID and that user id's are truncated properly when connecting to the queue manager. |
