We recently increased the load on our application that puts messages on a queue that is located on a mainframe machine. we tested load at 24 messages per second and had no issues. In our live environment we have a load of about 4 messages per second, and periodically (it's happening more frequently) our app starts taking longer and longer to put a message onto this queue. Finally it's taking over 30 seconds to do a put and the application times out.
Anyone hear of this kind of behavior before? We're not sure if it's an MQ issue or not and would like to rule it out so we can move on with our investigation.
There's no maxchannel error messages, other applications that use queues on the same local queue manager don't seem to be having any issues, we're stumped.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

You have not specified which OS and what else is going on in the environment.
You have not specified the size of the different messages.
You have not specified whether paging or cpu bottlenecks are present
Bottom line we need way more info _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

java app running in was6, on aix 5.2 with db2 8 mqseries server 5.3(I think)
connects to a local queue manager, puts message onto remote queue definition
remote queue is on AS400
other java apps use same qmgr but different remote queue to pass msgs to same As400 machine with no (noticeable) issue

No bottlenecks that we're aware of
Another thing, we also run Webclient in same environment, it connects to workflow via same local queue manager. Performance issues with it also. Not exactly the same times, but the problems as a whole started the same day, and got worse the same day too. |

Other remote queues (with no problem) are they using the same Xmit queue and the same channels as the one with the problem?
Do you see these messages piling up in the Xmit queue ?
Just fyi AS/400 is midrange |
