We have a workfloe system with full audit tured on for WBI monitor purpose. Now we envisage that in 3 months time we will have around 500k to 600k workflow instances, which means with the activity we will have the size of the audit DB will be anywhere between 50 - 60 GB.
Now in real time environments how do we manage such large database and as time goes on this size keeps growing, so what is the best way to manage thie audit DB in long term perspective, even if the normal workflow instances finish their data will be present in the audit DB and potentially leat to huge size of the DB which makes it un manageable.
So please suggest as to what is usually done in this kind of scenarios. _________________ Srisudhir Tadepalli |

A couple of suggestions:
1) Considering changing from full audit to condensed or to filter and just capture the events that you are interested in.
2) Routinely run the Audit table cleanup utility (fmcsclad). This utility takes a parameter where by you can specify if you want to delete everything associated with a PI that is finished, or, delete all events created before a certain date.
3) I'm not sure what your configuration is, but if you're using the Web Client with the default out-of-the-box settings, you may want to rewrite using a Virtual User strategy. This way, only one workitem gets created per process instance instead of one workitem per user per process instance. This will drastically cut down on the number of workitems and the amount of events in the audit trail table.
good luck,
