we plan to setup two brokers on two different aix servers. there is a 3rd AIX server that is a HACMP server, we plan to install configuration maanger on this 3rd server. but we do not want the configuration amanger to be HACMP. can we isntall two configuration managers one on each of the HACMP servers and have the two brokers connect to whcihcever one that is active? maybe like create two configuration managers with the same name or something?

You can never connect ONE broker to TWO configmgrs.

The ConfigMgr does not have to be running at any point for Broker to function, only when you want to deploy something.

You can run non-HACMP services on a machine that also has HACMP services.

that is exactly what i am trying to achieve here. can i run configuration maanger as a non hacmp service on hacmp servers.

the 3rd server that i was talking about is a HACMP pair, i understand that only one of the pairs would be up and runing at any given time. so should we install configuration managers as a non hacmp service on each of the hacmp pairs?

so that only one configuration manager will be up at any given time and the two brokers can connect to it?

is this possible?

Probably you should put the configmgr in HACMP.

Or just install it on one server, and live with it being down when that machine is unavailable.

is there one specific for V6?

Maybe not yet.

Or maybe it's been rolled in the MQ HA support pack for v6, which consolidated all the individual technology (HACMP, Veritas, etc.) support packs into one.
