I have a seperate MQSeries file system that is used to hold the qmgrs directory. (mqm/qmgrs/QMGRNAME)
Currently it is full and when I bring down the server hoping to release some of the non-persistent messages none get released. Is there anyway to bring the server back online and do some housekeeping? It currently hangs trying to start the MQSeries Server.

Well non persistant messages dont typicaly take any disk space,
The only thing I can think of that you could delete would be the amqerr0x.log files and hope that gives you enough space. Not
sure what unix variant, but sometimes there are files under dir lost_found.
if you want to try something a bit agressive,
1) backup qmgr dir if possible
2) under /var/mqm/qmgrs/QMGR_NAME/queues are all the queue files
3) move or backup several of the bigger ones into another directory
4) start MQSeries, there should be lots of space now (hopefully)
MQSeries will grow Q files and not shrink them unitl restart or the q
is idle for a period of time.
5) If you have enough storage now bring MQSeries down and copy/move
the queue files from step 2 and restart queue manager.
PS I have done this on older version of MQ v5.0 csd4 HPUX. I Make
no Guarntees on this method. _________________ Jeff
