What is the main difference between ALTER and REPLACE commands?

If my understanding is right, then ALTER just changes the attribute value which we specified to the Queue, to be changed.
Will the REPLACE work the same way, or is there any difference?

REPLACE would replace the object (Delete and re-Create under the covers).
ALTER would change the exisiting object.

Well, really, the difference is that ALTER is a command and REPLACE is an option on the DEFINE command.
