Hello,
We are working on a large project within a large company. The company suffers with tightly coupled applications and ad hoc integrations.
Therefore we have the requirement to create a loosely coupled application landscape. In order to do that we have choosed a number of products from IBM such as WebSphere Message Broker v6, WebSphere MQ, WBI mySAP adapter and other technologies. The complete system will consist of three new COTS packages (SAP is one) and a number of old legacy applications.
All of the transactions will go through the integration platform/broker.
To take the loosely coupling even further we are considering to use a global message format (GMF) in the broker so the mappings won't be application-to-application, instead app-to-GMF and GMF-to-app.
The GMF will be driven from the company's need and not use any standardized format.
Ok, now some questions...
- Have your company/clients made use of a GMF?
- What is your experience?
- Have you any cost estimation to use GMF versus not using GMF?
- Do have or have seen any papers in this area? (have seached at Gartner but not found anything)
Thanks in advance!
