If I start a QMGR with an ID that is in the mqm group but isn't mqm, the processes run as that ID.
This was not the case on Solaris. Whatever ID was used to start the QMGR, you would see mqm as the process ID.
Is this a bad thing? Or normal for AIX? So far, I see no ill effects.
I use the scripts for HACMP and they also start the QMGR with the broker service ID. The same thing happens on the non-HACMP LPARs.
I am using WMQ 6.0.0.1 on AIX 5.3 ML4. _________________ Joseph

Using su or sudo in your broker script is not too hard either, to ensure that mqm starts the processes...
I don't know of any particular problems, but I can think of some places where there might be problems - ownership of shared memory segments for example, files, or etc. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Some "ps" commands show effective ids, some show real ids. |
