HI
I'am trying to install MQ Integrator 2.1 based on MQ Series 5.3 see error.log below. It seems that MQSI 2.1 requires for instalation MQ 5.2 (am I correct). Is there any way to install MQSI 2.1 using MQ 5.3 ???

regards
tsobanski

Please don't install MQSI 2.1.

Please migrate to at least v5.

I have successfully run 2.1 on MQ 5.3, but that is not quite the same as installing it that way.

Also, from the word "fileset", I assume you're working on AIX... but please be specific about the platform and the version.

If you have any choice in the matter, any at all, don't use 2.1. It's obsolete and horrible (a matter discussed at some length in here).

I'm condemmed to use 2.1 and have it sitting happily (in so far as 2.1 is happy about anything) on a 5.3 queue manager

I have to instal MQSI v2.1. On production env i have such instalation - it was instaled on 5.2 ( 2 years ago) and then MQ was upgraded to 5.3. Now i have to reproduce this environment for migration tests ,and I started from instalation MQ 5.3 and MQSI 2.1 , now I will uninstal 5.3 and install 5.2

You seem to be going backwards; 5.2 is almost as bad as MQSI 2.1!

Mind you, if you had 5.2 in production 2 years ago to install 2.1 on, and chose to install 2.1, you must be a site with a very conservative view of upgrades.

Is it now your intention to install 5.2, install 2.1 in the belief it requires it, then upgrade to 5.3, hence mimiking the sequence of events your prod environment has gone through?

Seemingly, the original poster is unable to install with 5.3.

Please be specific about what platform you are trying to install on. Is it AIX? What level of AIX?

It is instalation on HP-UX 11.11.
As i wrote i was problme 5.3. I remove 5.3 and instaled 5.2 - after that installation MQSI 2.1 was easy and run whithout problems. I wonder if is any way to instal MQSI 2.1 on 5.3.
Now I'll do upgrade MQ from 5.2 to 5.3 and everything should be fine.

On Win, AIX & Solaris you pop in the install media and follow the instructions. Go figure.

Still, as jefflowrey correctly points out, installing 2.1 should be a diminishing practice on any platform or version.

It may be that the installation media that tsobanski has is a very early CSD level of 2.1, that came out before 5.3 existed.

Later installation media, that have been refreshed to various other CSD levels, presumably don't have the same issues. So maybe if tsobanski were to redownload the 2.1 installation from Passport Advantage or wherever, that the requirement would change.

But it sounds like tsobanski has gotten the installation to complete. And since tsobanski said "migration environment", then hopefully this is the last 2.1 install tsobanski will do.

If you really want to do this then you can override swinstall's dependency checking, this is done on the command line by specifying "-x enforce_dependencies=false" or, if using the GUI, by going to Options -> Change Options and unchecking the box against "Enforce dependency analysis errors in agent"

Whether MQSI 2.1 is supported with MQ 5.3 I can't answer.
