Does anyone have any experience or research information related to integrating simplified Chinese into a multi-lingual environment without breaking the current business processes?
Example: Distributed platform messages will contain simplified Chinese with U.S. English data - to request/reply with z/OS legacy system under CCSID 500 currently supporting (U.S. English, French, Spanish).
Regards,

Your question is rather short on content, but I will try to answer it.
In WMQ, the codepage of the msg data is described by the CodedCharSetId field of the msg header structure, the MD. This field is only of importance in WMQ if the msg is ever going to be returned by MQGET with the options MQGMO_CONVERT, otherwise it is ignored.
The usual format for character data is MQSTR; this assumes that the data is all in the same code page, i.e the code page in the CodedCharSetId field. The data conversion can then be done by WQ internally. Note that English French and Spanish are catered for by the same code page in UNIX, 819.
You describe your msgs as

..messages will contain simplified Chinese with U.S. English data
|
If you mean that the msg contains Chinese and English mixed, then the only way your apps can perform MQGET with CONVERT on the msg is if you define a user format, e.g. MYFORMAT, and put that format name in the Format field of the MD. You will then need to write a data cpnversion exit to convert the data; this exit will need to know which parts of the msg are Chinese and which English. _________________ MQSeries.net helps those who help themselves.. |
