First Marblehead
Sr. Middleware J2EE Developer/Workflow
Boston, MA

Founded in 1991 and headquartered in Boston, Massachusetts, First Marblehead had approximately 1,000 employees as of June 30th, 2005. We help meet the growing demand for private education loans by providing an integrated suite of services for student loan programs. In providing our services, we do not serve as a lender, guarantor or loan servicer, but instead receive fees for the services we provide in connection with processing and securitizing our clients' loans.

We provide loan services to 15 of the 20 largest originators of federally guaranteed student loans. Our clients include JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, HSBC, Wachovia, and PNC. We also provide education financing programs to corporations such as CVS, AAA, and General Motors.

In fiscal 2005, FMD facilitated approximately $2.6 billion in loan disbursements that funded students at over 5,300 schools, from private k-12 schools through undergraduate, graduate and continuing education programs. FMD also works directly with educational institutions to design loan programs offered to the schools' students. We have designed loan programs for over 50 educational institutions, including Stanford, USC, University of Virginia, Carnegie Mellon and Yale.

In 2001, FMD acquired the operating assets, including a database with loan origination and performance information, of TERI, the oldest and largest private loan guarantor. As of June, 2005, the proprietary database has loan performance data on over $9 billion in historical guarantees. FMD has provided structural, advisory and other services for 27 securitization transactions.

Our employees are our most important asset. Each employee is an integral part of our operation and success. As such, it is our goal to attract, motivate, and retain the best, brightest, most enthusiastic and most productive people by providing a friendly yet challenging and rewarding place to work.

We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package for all full time employees, including:
• Blue Cross and Blue Shield HMO Blue New England or PPO Preferred Medical plan;
