Installed only the eclipse explorer for MQ on a windows xp machine however when I go to start the MQ explorer nothing happens...
going directly to the eclipse directory, starting eclipse and then trying to switch to the MQ perspective causes an eclipse error...
anyone go through something similar? |

What steps did you perform to install "only the MQ Explorer"? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Hi,
Are you using the correct / matching version of Eclipse? MQ Explorer will ONLY work with 1 version of Eclipse. I think Eclipse version is v3.0.1. MQ Explorer plugin does not work with any other release of Eclipse.

Do you have any FFST's when trying to launch the Explorer? These should point towards any problem. _________________ --

I had this problem after I applied fixpack 1 to WMQ V6.
I had to apply a fix to make it work. This is documented in IBM article number IC46920.
Here is what I did:
After applying fixpack 1 on Windows, you need to update the registry as follows:
create a file named anything.reg which contains:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\IBM\WebSphere MQ Information Center\6.0]
"Port"="*"
and then run it to update the registry.
Failure to do this will mean that some function ( such as "Getting Started" )
won't start. IBM Says this is because port 8081 is in use.
See SIS number IC46920 |

I forgot to point out that there is an error in IBM article IC46920.
It is missing the square brackets around the key path.
( I have inserted them in my previous post ).
I pointed this out to IBM, but they don't appear to have corrected the article. |
