Hi All,

I am very new to MQ series technology.Have been working on MQ series on mainframes.

I want to slowly switch over to MQ series and make my career in it.

Can I request you all to provide me your frank and valuable inputs about the future of MQ series. Is it worth a squeeze. No offence meant to any MQ enthusiast. But I am just worried.

Thanks
Prashant

Hi Prashant_MQ,

Future seems to be bright, especially for MB

I think for the next 3 years atleast you should manage to get good work...

Can't look further than that, i'm just a developer

Regards.

There's nothing "just" about developers - we're the pillars on which the industry is built!

(Though I have encountered some that were more tree trunk than Gothic marble!)

My 2 cents - MQ has helped me avoid real work for longer than I want to think about, and with luck will carry me to retirement. I think they'll be work in this area until they convert z/OS to ASCII from EBCDIC and standardise all applications in the world on a globally agreed XML schema.

I'm not holding my breath.

IMHO I would start by getting a good grounding in basic MQ (queues, channels, etc) then move onto MB where (as elvis_gn points out) the future is looking rather good. Read all the manuals, even the apparently pointless ones, and experiment. Learning is doing.

Good fortune to you.
