Hi!
I am writing a Cool Client on HP3000.
What are the issues involved?
Is it a simple code? Like can we use the samples codes as is?
Are there any Gotchas?
thanx in advance for any response.

Mary,
I think we were groundbreakers when we did this a few years ago. We started using a dodgy, hacked (with IBM permission) MQ client which we got from a guy in Finland. It only ran in POSIX, but we managed to port the libraries across to native mode. The biggest gotcha we found was some weird upshifting was going on. The only way we could get the MQ API calls to resolve was to explicitly upshift the already upper-case call name eg CALL "MQGET" USING HCONN ...
Since then Willow have released a nice, friendly non-hacked version of the client, which we're using, but still only the POSIX libraries. We've never managed to get the native mode client to install, but we haven't spent too much time on it since what we've got at the moment works.
Anyway, thanks for the trip down amnesia lane. Feel free to email me at davidmckinney@hotmail.com if you think I may be able to help.
Dave. |
