Shalini,
you can use the ping channel (channelname) from runmqsc. Also you can display the status of the QueueManager using display qmgr.

When I ping the channel it says the channel is in use but it does not display the status that Channel named "Channel" running

In case of display qmgr in runmqsc which attribute gives me the status that the QM is running

Hi Shalini,

You can only ping a channel that is NOT running (that's why yu got a channel in use). Ping merely determines if it is possible to connect to the remote end. You can only ping a server or sender channel. To see channel status, you need to do a:

dis chs(<channel name or * for all>) all

Some useful things to look at are LSTMSGTI and LSTMSGDA (last message date and time). This tells you how long ago something come down or was sent.

If no channel status is displayed then the channel is inactive.

The ping qmgr command in runmqsc is, IMHO, pretty useless - if the queue manager wasn't running, you couldn't use runmqsc
