Every 30 seconds I get these 2 messages while the listner is on 1414. Queue Manager works but very slowly. Switching it to 1415 seems to solve it. Any ideas?

Is there an FDC file dropped in the errors directory? If you stop the listener service and test with runmqlsr from the command prompt, does the symptom persist?
