I am working with a CWF and I have set Value to Fixed for a local element in the logical properties. The fixed value is @1. I would have expected this fixed value in the output root but it is not showing up.
According to what I have read about the Fixed value:
This property provides the fixed value for an element or attribute.
If a Fixed value is set for an attribute or element and a message is received, if the attribute or element exists in the message, the data in that part of the message must match that held in this property.
If the attribute or element does not exist in the message, the broker will create it and populate it with the value in this property.
Has anyone run into this issue? I am a newbie to broker so I am probably missing something obvious. |

How did you create/generate your message definition file? _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

The documentation is incorrect. Fixed and default values are not automatically applied by the broker. In fact, there is only one scenario when they are used at all. When a CWF or TDS fixed-length field is being written, if an element/attribute with a default value is missing from the message tree its default value will be used.

An element with a default value will never be inserted into the message tree - it will only ever be written directly to the bitstream, in the circumstances described above. |
