Is there some way to configure what the "System" editor in Eclipse is? Particularly on FC3, I keep getting the wrong graphical editor when I open stuff.

I've tried adjusting the text editor preference in the OS... but that doesn't see m to work in FC3 at all - the changes don't stick.

No. I mean "graphical emacs" instead of "graphical vim".

I'm talking about the default editor that gets called when Eclipse can't find an internal editor.

Okay, after going around several times, I've ended up solving this.

One must, with GNOME at least, not use anything obvious.

What one must do is right-click on the file in question in the File Manager, choose "preferences", and then change the choice in the "Open With" tab.

This then changes the preference for all files of the same type. It also updates the choice in the non-functional "Preferred Applications" caplet.
