This is just a note to all the people having this issue. Make sure you have applied the CSD's required for your OS. In 5.3 MQ on 2.6.x linux with no CSDs applied, the crtmqm command will hang with no errors/FDCs or you might get strange results.

MQ 5.3 was only supported on 2.4 kernels last time I looked. If trying to run MQ 5.3 on 2.6 kernels, LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.19 must be set - do some Google searches for more info.

Yes I know. I had that set. I actually just wanted someone who might be searching for a hang on crtmqm on 5.3 on linux 2.6 (which is supported), to know if you neglect(forget) to apply the right CSD you'll get a very confusing hang on the crtmqm command. I am not asking for help, just trying to give some clues to the next poor slob.

I was working from the info at http://www.ibm.com/software/integration/wmq/requirements/index2.html and the Linux/Intel specific page at http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=171&uid=swg27006300

Which CSD contained the fix for this, out of interest?

CSD 11 is the minimum:
Here is what I am basing my support statement off of:
SuSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 9.0 has been tested with WebSphere MQ Linux for zSeries V5.3 with Fix Pack 11(CSD11) applied.

Here is the page:
