I am just starting to migrate from WMQI v2.1 to WBI MB v6.0. I have the broker and configuration manager installed on a Unix machine and Toolkit installed on Windows.
Multiple developers will login to this Windows box for accessing the Toolkit. Each user has his own workspace. Do all the users have to be Administrators on this box?
Initially, all the developers were not Administrators. Then we were getting an eclipse error while opening the Toolkit. It says to see a log file, but there is no log file created anywhere in the drive where Toolkit and eclipse are installed.
When all the users were made Administrators, they are able to open the Toolkit. Is this a requirement? Is there a way to overcome this restriction?
Thanks,
VK. |

No, it is not, I'm able to open the toolkit from a non windows Administrator userid....
by default, the log should be in you \Document and Settings\ folder (under IBM\wmbt6.0, I think) _________________ -wayne |

You probably didn't set the file owernship permissions on the Toolkit installation correctly.
It is probably a bad idea to share a Toolkit installation like this - at least for developers. You are slowing them down needlessly. Unless your IBM Sales representatives disagree, you are freely licensed to install Toolkit on as many machines in your company as you want.
If your IBM sales representative disagrees - they are right and I am wrong. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Thanks Jeff.
For now we do not have too many developers. So we are going ahead with a single installation. If required in future, we will install the toolkit on more machines.
Can you tell me how to set the file ownership permissions? Is this documented in some manuals? Is this something to be set at the time of installation or is it configurable even after installation?
Thanks,

Ok. I will check with the Administrator.
But the puzzling thing is I dont see any log file created anywhere. When the toolkit is opened for the first time, the following error comes -
An error has occured. See the log file o:\Program
But there is no log file created anywhere in the system. Also the folders IBM and the inner folders will be created in the default workspace <Documents and Settings\UserName> only after we login to the Toolkit for the first time, which also I am not able to do if I am not an Administrator.
