POWTEC is looking for a Senior WebSphere MQ Series Administrator to work at our customer site with the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). This individual will be part of an established and respected team of developers and IT Architects designing and implementing solutions for the Federal Government.
This position requires an experienced MQ Series Administrator (v. 5.x+), familiar with administrating large-scale installations of MQ Series.
Responsibilities include:
Day-to-day administration of a MQ Series farm with more than 2500 installations of MQSeries across the United States. These installations are on various platforms (AIX, WinNT, and AS/400 plus possibly others)
Security management and set-up of all parts of MQSeries (Queues, managers, etc) Security audits and encryption/decryption of messages/queues may be part of these duties.
Interaction with existing staff in a support/mentoring/lead capability as required. Especially important is the mentoring, as knowledge-transfer is to be a continuous requirement.
Architecting and designing MQ connectivity and leading discussions on best-practice actions to maintain and improve the overall use of MQSeries.
Qualifications:
At least 3 years administrating MQ Series in a medium to large environment
Java coding experience a plus (the position is primarily administrative, but some software development may be involved)
Strong ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues QUICKLY is a big plus.
MQSeries certification is a plus.
