I'm on a project, building a bunch of SOAs. Service provider is on Z/OS & exposed via web services (Windows 2003 Server).
Requests come in via OTMA & are therefore subject to 32K message length limit. BUT, I can't convince the functional analysts, that the same 32K limit does NOT apply to the responses (which go directly back to a queue on the Windows 2003 Server).
It's like buying a box of cocoa-pops & taking them home 1 at a time, because you think the box is too heavy
I repeatedly explain "there is NO 32K limit on responses", at least once a month (since Agust last year). They still don't get it .
Q. DO you think shouting would help ? Or should I try a wedgy, to get their attention ? _________________ SCJP2

Most people only need one Service Oriented Architecture.

Try showing them.
But then again, if they are putting in more than one SOA, then maybe it's a lost cause. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Sorry - sloppy of me - I meant "a bunch of SOA services". Maybe that's my problem - clarity ? _________________ SCJP2

Perhaps keeping quiet is the best strategy for the good of your system capacity and performance. If they think they can send large amounts of data around, they will be more likely to do so. If they think they are limited, it may lead to better (ie. smaller) designs.
No point in shifting Mbs if Kbs will do... |
