We are running MQ for z/OS V5.3.1
We have defined 3 LOG datasets and we use archive.
We had a problem with the archiving process and the log datasets started to become full what eventually will lead to the stop of MQ (all logs full).
We wanted to try to prevent this problem (logs full) without stopping MQ.
Looking at the manuals it looks like the only solution will be increasing the quantity or/and the size of the logs (it requires to stop MQ).
Someone knows if they are another solution without stopping MQ ?
I don't believe there is anyway of changing the logs without a restart, but the main issue is with your archive process isn't it? repair that and MQ will be fine. Then schedule the log size increase for the next 'outage' period.
Of course you could cluster the queue manager and then drop the one you want to work on and the other will 'absorb' the workload.
